  • Massage Therapy in Boca Raton

    Massage Therapy has proven to be monumental in helping patients recover from soft tissue injuries. Together, Chiropractic Care and Massage Therapy help patients achieve maximum results in less time than either therapy could achieve on it’s own.

    We have two Licensed Massage Therapists on staff with over 25 years combined experience. Our Massage Therapists work hand in hand with Dr Rosen to always ensure a safe and comfortable visit.

    One of the questions that we often get is “does my insurance cover Massage Therapy”. The answer in most cases is yes, however, Massage has to be medically necessary and only a licensed Physician can determine that. Many times Dr Rosen will recommend that a patient has Massage because he believes the therapy will indeed help. Insurance companies do not reimburse for relaxation massages, but if you have an injury that Massage Therapy may help, that’s a different story. This can only be determined during Dr Rosen’s initial examination

    Massage is Therapeutic

    Massage Therapy helps facilitate your bodies own natural healing ability. By promoting circulation to and from an injured area Massage does 2 things:

    1. Improves blood flow

    Massage can increase blood flow to an area, thereby aiding in the delivery of much needed nutrients and oxygen
    2. Increase Lymphatic drainage

    Waste is created inside the cells much like how a factory produces smoke, this waste is deposited outside the cell and collected in the lymphatic fluid. The mechanical pressure of massage helps in the removal of this lymph. This is important because the waste created can cause irritation and discomfort.

    Massage Has Many Benefits
    Massage has many other benefits as well. It facilitates your bodies natural relaxation mode, which makes it great for stress management. It helps muscle function, accelerates tissue repair, breaks down scar tissue, lowers blood pressure, and improves flexibility and range of motion. Massage Therapy is indeed a vital component to the rehabilitation of an injury, in fact more and more Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, and even Orthopedic Doctors are using Massage Therapy in their clinics because of the many benefits it offers their patients.

    Massage also helps the Chiropractic Physician adjust the patient. When muscles become tight, they can reduce the mobility of the spinal vertabrae. This goes against what the Chiropractor is trying to do, which is to gently move the vertabrae into a state of alignment. Because Massage helps relax tight muscles, this makes the adjustment more effective and often longer lasting.
    Different Types of Massage Therapy

    There are many different types of Massage Therapies. In our office we utilize the 3 best techniques to expedite injury rehabilitation. Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Trigger Point Therapy, these 3 types of Massage Therapies work extremely well for decreasing recovery time and pain management. Let’s examine these treatments in greater detail.

    * Swedish Massage

    Swedish Massage is probably the most popular technique, and for good reason. It stimulates circulation, and relaxation, and it helps tie the other Massage techniques together. It’s great for wound care and sensitive injuries that would other wise be to painful to work on.
    * Deep Tissue Massage

    Deep Tissue Massage is great for stiff achy muscles and many types of painful chronic conditions. Fibromyalgia is one of the chronic conditions that Deep Tissue Massage is very helpful with. Deep Tissue Massage works by breaking down adhesions that form in the muscles, these adhesions cause soreness, lost range of motion, and make us more susceptible to further injuries.
    * Trigger Point Therapy

    Trigger Points form deep in the belly of the muscles from overuse, stretching or contracting a muscle to hard or to fast, and bad posture, to name a few. These are highly sensitive areas and can sometimes refer pain to other areas of the body. To alleviate Trigger Points a firm sustained pressure is applied to the belly of the muscle, this breaks down and greatly reduces the size of the Trigger Point. In many cases trigger points can be eliminated in a single session

    Conditions To Avoid

    You can see how Massage would be a extremely helpful to most patients, however, it’s not right for everyone. There are certain conditions that Massage Therapy could potentially be hazardous for. The conditions that would be contraindicated for massage are: Fever, acute infectious diseases(such as colds or flus), inflammation, varicose veins, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, systemic infections, fractures, bleeding, burns, cancer (without medical release), open lesions or sores, and blood clots. In many of these causes simply avoiding the affected area is all that would be required for Massage to be safe, but in others it’s the action of the Massage on the circulatory system that makes it potentially dangerous. Any potential concerns you may have would be addressed by Doctor Rosen during your first visit.
